Joan DiMicco is a Research Scientist at IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center, in Cambridge, MA. Her background is in building social tools for face-to-face collaboration settings and her latest research is on the impact of “web 2.0” social networking tools inside the workplace. She holds a BS in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and an MS and PhD from the MIT Media Lab. Prior to working at IBM, she worked at Sun Microsystems, First Virtual Holdings, and Open Sesame.
